About Us

"Education cultivates virtues through deliberate training. It builds the habits that lead to excellence and flourishing."

So says Aristotle in Book II of Nicomachean Ethics. Education rooted in theology and piety is a lifelong process. At The Cathedral Institute, we provide opportunities for our members to continue this journey in a supportive community.

Our Story

In The Four Loves, C.S. Lewis says that friendship is born at the moment when one man says to another "What! You too? I thought that no one but myself ..." Our Founders began meeting out of a shared love of learning, exploring the traditions of Western Civilization that created our society, and teasing out what it means to be human.

We seek to foster intellectual inquiry  by encouraging thoughtful exploration of the foundations of faith, reason, and culture; to cultivate human flourishing by deepening our understanding of the human experience through the study of history and the Great Books, Biblical texts, philosophical reasoning, and artwork; and enrich public discourse by contributing wisdom and clarity to public conversation by engaging enduring questions of truth, meaning, and the good life.

Our Vision

Our Community

Our Mission

Our vision is to provide a place for adults to explore classic texts, theological references, poetry, art, music, and sculpture and the intersection of these as we contemplate what it means to be human and what the Good Life looks like in light of these texts. We're seeking true leisure to dive deeply into transcendental truths and wrestle with the topics that shape human flourishing.

Our Community

Our community is made up of individuals from all walks of life, united by our desire to join the Great Conversation. We welcome anyone to join our gatherings and get to know us. We're learning together, pressing into foundational texts and artwork, and teasing out what it means to be human.
